Let's Fight Against Dengue

It bothers me ( and I guess a lot of people) to see many cases of dengue everyday. Hearing and watching it in the news is sickening. It became an epidemic instantly. Since we are a tropical country, no wonder we have lots of mosquitoes. If we Filipinos would only just work together. It's just like People Power, we work together for our country, why won't we work together to clean our surroundings for our Health? I guess, it's in our Tamad system that we don't like to work. "Hindi naman ako matatablan ng lamok na yan." , "Di ako mag off lotion, ang init sa katawan." Admit it or not we usually say these things but when we feel the symptoms we would say " Sana nilinis ko na lang yung pinag mugaran ng lamok.", or " Sana nag lotion na lang ako." It's always at the end that we realized that we should have done everything to stay healthy. I'm assigned at the Pediatric ICU which is under the Pediatric Ward and before the ICU is the ward where there are usually less than 10 patients but in a span of a week. The whole ward became full and everyday I see more and more patients being admitted at our Pediatric ER because of dengue. :( It's so sad to see these children in pain just because of being bitten by one Aegis Egypti Mosquito. If only they have prevented it earlier, dengue cases like these wouldn't happen. Let's help our government fight diseases not just dengue by doing our share. Let's clean our surroundings, make sure that we don't have stagnant water near our areas. Let's screen our doors and windows, close them or place linens and kulambo. Let's eat right, drink lots of water and eat lots of fruits and vegetables that would help our immune system fight against infection and most importantly help each other. As by the words of an unknown author: Be the change you want to be in the world, if you want to make a difference start with yourself. :)
